Girls Rise for Mohali Celebrates Lohri
Girls Rise for Mohali (GRM), an organization working on gender equality today celebrated the festival of Lohri with Janitors/Safai Karamcharies of Mohali.
Janitors clean our streets all the year round and keep the city beautiful. As a gesture to thank them for this noble task, Girls Rise for Mohali celebrated the festival of Harvest, Lohri with them.  On this occasion a bonfire was lit in Phase 11 and all the gathered danced to the beats of Punjabi Dhol, spreading a message of universal equality.
Speaking on this occasion, Mrs Opinder Preet Kaur Gill, elected Municipal Councilor from Mohali, requested all gathered to live a healthy and happy life by staying away any form of drugs, especially tobacco. She also told that tobacco causes irreparable loss to life and limb.
The organization was founded with the aim to spread message of equality in society and to empower the downtrodden and the less privileged, especially women.
