कानपुर में बड़ा चौराहा स्थित शापिंग मॉल जेड स्क्वायर को बुधवार सुबह सील कर दिया गया है। नगर निगम के अधिकारियों ने पुलिस बल के साथ मौके पर पहुंच कर सीलिंग की कार्रवाई की है। शापिंग मॉल पर13.36 करोड़ गृहकर और 12.50 करोड़ जलकर-सीवरकर बकाया है।
अपर नगर आयुक्त अरविंद राय ने बताया कि मॉल पर 13.36 करोड़ गृहकर और 12.50 करोड़ जलकर बकाया है। कई बार नोटिस दिए जाने पर भी जब टैक्स जमा नहीं किया गया तो नगर निगम अधिनियम 1959 के तहत सीलिंग की कार्रवाई की गई है।

अचानक हुई कार्रवाई से मॉल प्रशासन के हाथ पांव फूल गए। मॉल के सभी गेटों को सील कर दिया गया है, मॉल के अंदर के कर्मचारियों को बाहर निकलने के लिए एक गेट को खुला छोड़ा गया है। बाकि किसी के भी प्रवेश पर रोक लगा दी गई है।
बताते चलें कि यह शहर का सबसे बड़ा मॉल है। मॉल पर कुल 26.50 करोड़ टैक्स बकाया है। नगर आयुक्त शिवशरणप्पा जीएन के आदेश पर नगर निगम और पुलिस की टीम जब मॉल को सील करने पहुंची तब वहां काम करने वाले कई कर्मचारी आ चुके थे।
टीम ने सीलिंग की कार्रवाई से पहले सभी को बाहर निकाला। अपर नगर आयुक्त अरविंद राय ने बताया कि मॉल पर 13.36 करोड़ गृहकर और 12.50 करोड़ जलकर बकाया है। कई बार नोटिस दिए जाने पर भी जब टैक्स जमा नहीं किया गया तो नगर निगम अधिनियम 1959 के तहत सीलिंग की कार्रवाई की गई है। यदि जमा नहीं किया तो कुर्की की कार्रवाई हो सकती है। इस दौरान अपर नगर आयुक्त रोली गुप्ता और प्रवर्तन के अधिकारी मौजूद रहे।
दो दिन में बंद हो सकती है पानी और सीवर की लाइन
जलकल के जीएम नीरज गौड़ ने बताया कि 12.50 करोड़ जल और सीवर कर बकाया है। अगर दो दिन के भीतर मॉल प्रशासन ने कर जमा नहीं किया तो मॉल के भीतर पानी की सप्लाई और सीवर की लाइन बंद कर दी जाएगी।
दुकानें, मल्टीप्लेक्स और रेस्टोरेंट से है मॉल की शान
मॉल के अंदर देशी और विदेशी ब्रांडों के कपड़े एवं अन्य सामानों की दुकानें, रेस्टोरेंट और मल्टीप्लेक्स हैं। रोजाना शहर के तकरीबन 10 हजार लोग मॉल में शॉपिंग, पार्टी या फिल्म देखने के लिए आते हैं।

Kanpur: A civic body official said they sealed the Z Square Mall’s gates and notices were pasted on all of them to deposit tax dues.
The Kanpur Municipal Corporation on Wednesday sealed Z Square Mall, the city’s biggest shopping centre at the posh Mall Road, for not depositing property tax to the tune of over ₹ 13 crore, officials said.
KMC’s Zonal Officer Rajesh Kumar Gupta told PTI that the shopping mall was sealed for not paying the civic body’s dues of ₹ 13,36,24,712 that comprises property tax of ₹ 10,44,88,848 and the interest of ₹ 2,91,35,864.
“Z Square Shopping Mall’s Managing Director Tahir Husain owes ₹ 13.36 crore as property tax, which was not paid in the last several years even after several notices were served,” he added.
Following the instruction of the Municipal Commissioner, Shivasharanappa GN, a KMC team headed by Additional Municipal Commissioners Arvind Rai and Roli Gupta, along with other teams members reached the mall and sealed it.
Elaborating further, Mr Gupta said the KMC team sealed mall’s gates and notices were pasted on all of them to deposit tax dues.Some portion of the mall was left open to allow insiders to go out and the remaining part was sealed.
Earlier too, Kanpur Mayor Pramila Pandey 
had got the mall sealed but it reopened after its management cleared a part of the dues and also assured
the KMC that it would pay the balance amount at the earliest.
